This is just one of the many reason.I do not feel like listing all of the reasons because the simple fact remains the Xbox 360 discs hold way less data than PS3 discs which leaves the Xbox 360 dead in the water when talking about games in the 30GB+ range. PS3 discs hold WAY more data than Xbox360 discs (exact same reason why you will never see MGS4 on XBox360).

This isnt an isolated incident though, back in the ps2 days - Shadow Of The Colossus- used the sound chip and other doodads to power some of that games graphical fidelity, and at the time, that game looked absolutely phenomenal!! Im not going to go out and out and say i know all of this for gospel, but i listened to the last episode of the idle thumbcast, and this was basically what they explained in relation to developing on both said: There's also the matter of the 360 making each game come through Microsoft Direct X Based API, (To ensure future backwards compatibility) Whereas Sony holds no such demands over the developers, in fact this effectively forces the Developers to build everything from the ground up themselves (Hence why the ps3 is 'harder to build games on', there is no base line standard) Because of this the ps3 is able to let developers use all kinds of tricks, as aforementioned, offloading a lot of the graphical strains onto the cell rather than using the RSX, Which, though a pain in the ass to do, and not something that many devs are going to put that much effort in for multi platform ports, allows - well- you've seen uncharted 2.

The quotes from the 2 PC devs about how they don't want to spend the resources to do PS3 development is more about their justification of a business decision, and less about a performance said: Everything TheBeast Says is true here, but as well as naughty dogs Contractual obligation with Sony.

So, while I'm not saying Uncharted 2 can't be done on the 360, it seems very unlikely. It's taken them a little while to get comfortable with it, but if you look at some games that have come out recently, there's not really anything on the 360 that can beat them (graphically.) Now, on the other hand, Sony 1st party devs don't have any other option than to learn the PS3 architecture. It's difficult to port from one architecture to another.

Look at nearly any cross-platform release, and the PS3 version is almost never the better-looking game.

They have programmed for a PC architecture for their entire careers, and from a business standpoint, they don't feel like they will get the return on investment by learning how to program for the PS3. Almost all quotes from devs about preferring the 360 over the PS3 stem from the fact that most of the programmers on their teams have no idea how to get the most out of the Cell processor. The problem with multi-platform games, and devs who are primarily PC developers (John and Gabe) is that the 360 hardware is much closer to a PC's and thus easier for them to program for. If you look at raw numbers, the PS3 is hands down a more powerful system. That doesn't mean that the 360 is more powerful. It is a pain in the ass to program for the PS3 (compared to PC and 360). First of all, look at the quotes you paraphrased. But for a little clarification about the technical reasons, here goes. Well, as others have mentioned, it's a first party game, so from a business standpoint it is impossible to see it on 360. As for whether Uncharted 2 can be done on the 360, I won't pretend to know, but my guess is that it probably can, unfortunately there are strong contractual/business ties between Sony and Naughty Dog (as Nfinit mentions), in the same way that Bungie was Microsoft's bitch - so it's not going to happen. We'll probably still see developers pushing all the console beyond what we've already seen over time - it's always really interesting to see this sort of progression. Compared to the 360, the PS3's GPU doesn't quite stack up as well, some might say this is why the PS3 has had a bit of trouble keeping up graphically in the past due to developers being stuck with the GPU/CPU separation mindset/skillset, it might have held them back at the start, but this probably was a long term plan, no doubt with a bit of guidance from Sony, Naughty Dog got their head around this and as a result, seem to be really pushing the boundaries. While traditional development has a clear separation between stuff you do on the CPU, and stuff done on the GPU, Sony's approach with the 'Cell' is that the CPU would be the main powerhouse. "This is a definite sign that PS3 development is starting to mature. chucked all these different things on the Cell rather than on the GPU.
